Beyond the waves, a painting that navigates the delicate balance between turmoil and serenity

You often see your life as a raging sea that never stops. Why? Because your worry and lack of faith prevent you from seeing beyond the waves. Only when your heart lets go and calms down will the answer appear.
The painting Beyond the Waves invites us to overcome our fears and navigate apparent obstacles to discover calmer horizons. It subtly illustrates the necessity of taking risks to embrace happiness, which is often hidden behind tumultuous moments that are merely illusory.
This painting is divided into two distinct but complementary areas.
The lower section reveals a peaceful aquatic world, where life seems to evolve gracefully beneath the turbulent surface. Aquatic plants gently sway in the currents, some breaking through the surface to bloom into vibrant red flowers, symbols of resilience and beauty emerging from the depths.
In contrast, the upper section depicts a natural arch in green tones, perhaps formed by ancient tree trunks, framing a sky of pure blue. A large golden sun sits at its center, radiating warm and guiding light, promising serenity and renewal.
These two parts exude calm and wisdom. However, between them, the water’s surface, shaken by magical waves, becomes the site of turmoil. The wind stirring this agitation seems to carry an invisible and mystical force, representing inner obstacles, doubts, and fears. The scene gives the impression that venturing into this area would be perilous, yet this barrier is merely superficial.
Beneath the restless surface, a majestic koi fish moves with tranquility. Its bright red color, accented with golden scales, and its long, flowing tail captivate the eye. A solar symbol shines on its head, giving this animal a fantastical, almost divine quality. Whether a guardian of the waters or a spiritual guide, the koi embodies wisdom and balance at the heart of chaos.
On the surface, a young woman leans toward the water. Dressed in red with golden patterns, she visually reflects the koi. Her tattoos— a solar symbol on her forehead and a black heart under her eye— as well as her large golden discs as earrings, evoke a tribal origin and a strong connection with nature and the spiritual world.
Her hesitant gaze, tinged with fear, reveals the internal struggle she faces. Yet, despite her apprehension, she reaches her hand out to cross the barrier of turbulent water. This gesture, both bold and vulnerable, symbolizes the effort needed to overcome fears and open up to the serenity hidden beyond the turmoil.
The connection between the young woman and the koi fish goes beyond visual resemblance: they share a symbol, an intention, and a quest for calm and understanding. Their union suggests that happiness, like the koi, often resides in the calm depths of our lives, just beneath the surface of passing storms.
This painting powerfully reminds us not to be hypnotized by apparent turmoil. Like the woman, we must draw from within the strength to cross these obstacles to discover the treasures of peace and wisdom they conceal.
