Thought :
You feel like you are sailing on deep waters every day and you are afraid of sinking at any moment. But do not forget that the sun and the stars were placed in the sky to remind you that there is not just one path. You will have to make choices but you will never be lost, if only you remember to look up to the sky.
The painting In Deep Water explores those moments in life when everything seems heavy, depicting a universal struggle between despair and hope. It invites us to find in the darkness the small lights capable of guiding us toward solutions, even unexpected ones.
The scene unfolds at night, enhancing a mysterious and oppressive atmosphere where familiar markers fade away. In the upper part, a dark sky painted in shades of black and gray is dotted with white and yellow stars. These stars, like fragments of hope, form a subtle Milky Way, a path only visible to those who take the time to look.
The heart of the painting is dominated by a tribal sun in golden and turquoise hues, resembling a mandala. This sun, with its rays extending in all directions, overlaps a smaller black sun adorned with tribal motifs. This composition becomes a luminous compass, an invitation to explore the multiple directions possible to escape the turmoil.
At the bottom, the tumultuous ocean occupies the lower half. The wild waves, as black as ink, symbolize the challenges and emotions that overwhelm us. Beneath the churning surface, deep blue waters offer a calming contrast. Here, sea plants dance gently, embodying the peace and serenity that can be reached by crossing through the trials of the surface.
In the foreground, a woman stands, facing the sea in profile. Her features and posture, weary and thoughtful, betray an inner struggle. Her closed eyes seem to search in the darkness for answers that she already holds within herself. Her long red dress, adorned with solar patterns, illustrates that she carries the light needed to move forward.
Her black hair, dotted with stars, connects her intimately to the cosmos, suggesting that she is a part of the vast universe. The sun tattoos on her forehead and shoulder, as well as the small black heart under her eye and the golden heart embroidered on her chest, speak of her inner battles but also her capacity to love herself and shine.
This painting serves as a reminder that every being, even in moments of doubt, holds within them the resources to move forward. The light is within us; we only need to open our eyes to see it and no longer be merely a light for others.
