Intention, a painting of a window onto nocturnal wishes
The painting "Intention" delicately portrays the fragility and depth of human wishes and desires. It evokes those intentions often whispered in silence, aspirations that can be challenging to achieve alone.
On the pristine white canvas, a large oval opens up like a window onto a nocturnal landscape filled with mystery. The border of this oval is adorned with small blue and yellow triangles drawn in a tribal style, reminiscent of ancestral or ritual symbolism. The nighttime background, rich in shades of blue and veiled with white mist, is scattered with a multitude of twinkling stars, symbols of hope and wishes. Within this starry sky, several luminous spheres of milky white hover, resembling miniature moons or suspended dandelion pappuses. This subtle reference to the dandelion roots itself in popular traditions, where blowing on its seeds is believed to carry one’s wish to the wind.
In the foreground, representing the interior, black climbing plants and delicate blue flowers rise. These plants seem to entwine the frame, creating a boundary between the external world of stars and the more intimate realm of the young woman.
The woman, painted in profile, stands in the foreground. Her long auburn hair cascades over her shoulders, accentuating her elegant silhouette. A blue flower tucked behind her ear holds her hair in place, adding a touch of delicacy. Her gaze, slightly lowered, reveals deep reflection, even silent melancholy. On her forehead, a solar symbol is tattooed, perhaps signifying energy or life, contrasting with a small black heart beneath her eye, suggesting a duality of light and shadow. Her mouth and overall expression, imbued with sadness, invite personal interpretation: is it nostalgia, a disappointed hope, or uncertainty about her intentions?
She wears a pale pink dress adorned with blue and white geometric embroidery that echoes the tribal patterns of the oval’s border. A solar symbol is also embroidered on her shoulder, reinforcing the recurrence of this motif, while a small black heart is visible on her chest, mirroring the one marked on her face.
Her left arm hangs at her side, while her right arm stretches horizontally, poised to grasp one of the luminous spheres or pappuses. This suspended gesture conveys a moment of hesitation, as if she is weighing her choices before acting, a scene rich with symbolism.
In this dreamlike and introspective atmosphere, the young woman seems to ponder: can the stars and the pappuses carry her wishes? Will they help her find joy, rekindle her smile? This mysterious painting invites the viewer to reflect on their own desires and the strength needed to realize them.
