A bird came for me

A bird came for me, a painting of the awakening of an unlikely friendship

A bird came to find me, where I entered. I felt lost then, but he knew how to tell me where the exit was. This bird of good omen could not have found a surer friend, rest assured.

A bird came for me is a painting that evokes an intimate, almost mystical encounter between a young woman and a fantastical blue peacock, exploring themes of friendship, mutual trust, and the quest for inner balance. The composition immerses the viewer in a dreamlike, soothing atmosphere where time seems to stand still.

The scene unfolds against a misty backdrop, featuring a gradient of pastel hues ranging from soft red to powdery pink, creating a warm and enveloping ambiance. At the base of the painting, a few stylized plants in bright white or deep black subtly emerge, perhaps symbolizing the duality between light and shadow, simplicity and complexity in life.

At the heart of this composition, the eye is irresistibly drawn to a young woman seated directly on the ground, her posture reflecting humility and a deep connection to nature. Her fiery red hair spreads around her face like a cloud, enhancing her aura of mystery and inner strength. With her eyes closed, she appears profoundly attuned to her surroundings and to the bird she holds gently in her arms. Two black hearts tattooed under her eyes add a touch of vulnerability and uniqueness to her appearance.

Her attire, composed of layered garments in contrasting colors and patterns, suggests cultural or symbolic richness. She wears a short-sleeved top in green tones adorned with tribal motifs, layered over a long-sleeved red garment embellished with black and turquoise blue patterns, visually echoing the peacock’s feathers.

The blue peacock, rendered with exquisite detail, is a creature that bridges the real and the imaginary. Its radiant blue plumage is adorned with white tribal patterns, reminiscent of ancient symbols or sacred scripts. The black crest atop its head and its gentle gaze contrast with the intensity of its colors. Its long tail rests delicately on the woman’s lap, signaling a moment of tranquility yet hinting at its latent power.

The posture of the two protagonists suggests a fragile harmony. The young woman, eyes closed, seems lost in deep meditation, radiating an inner peace meant to reassure the wild creature. The bird, though calm, retains a hint of vigilance: its gaze reveals a subtle unease, a natural instinct to remain ready to flee if danger disrupts the serene moment.

In many cultures, the peacock is a powerful symbol. It is often associated with rebirth, the infinite cycle of life, and sometimes eternity. In Buddhist tradition, it represents spiritual ascension and awakening, a journey inward toward self-mastery and serenity. In this painting, the peacock may be seen as a guide, a spiritual messenger helping the young woman reclaim her balance and draw strength from within to move forward.

This encounter symbolizes more than just a shared moment between a human and an animal: it illustrates a journey toward trust, both in oneself and in others, as well as the pursuit of harmony between instinct and reason.
