Learning to trust

Learning to trust, a painting of a meeting between vulnerability and trust

Thought : Image avec infobulle

When you learn to trust Me, you will be able to accept the gentleness and love you have long sought.

The painting “Learning to Trust” delves into the fragilities and hesitations that accompany opening up to others, while revealing a vibrant delicacy.

Against a background of soft pink hues, gently blending into pastel tones, stands a central golden octagonal window, symbolizing openness and transition. This window can be interpreted as a gateway between inner and outer worlds, or between psychological and physical dimensions, reinforcing the idea of personal transformation.

Surrounding the window, the background is animated with small, shimmering white specks resembling scattered stars in a dreamlike sky. Floating blue and red squares seem to depict mysterious, unknown flowers, while fantastical plants twist and stretch upward. These botanical motifs, alternating between bright white, light blue, and dramatic black leaves, create a striking interplay. The two large, full pink flowers at the bottom right balance this dynamic, infusing the composition with a palpable serenity.

The central figure, a young woman, draws the eye. Clad in a flowing blue tunic, she embodies calmness and the vast depth of human emotions. Her long black hair, adorned with twinkling stars, suggests a profound connection with infinity and the night. Bouquets of blue and red leaves at her ears hint at a dialogue between complementary or opposing energies, while the solar tattoo on her forehead symbolizes inner light and the strength to illuminate her own shadows. Small black hearts beneath her eyes add a tender note of vulnerability, almost childlike in nature.

The two butterflies, pivotal elements of the painting, introduce a nuanced and complex dynamic. Their blue-gray wings, both understated and captivating, position them as embodiments of fragility. The delicate gesture of one butterfly landing on the woman’s hand becomes the focal point of the narrative conveyed by the artwork: an act of mutual trust, tinged with an almost palpable tension.

The woman, however, expresses emotional ambivalence. While she extends her hand, her gaze, slightly averted, reveals a hint of hesitation—a latent fear of the unpredictability of these delicate creatures. Despite their frail appearance, the butterflies carry a mysterious, potentially daunting essence, reminding us that even the smallest forms of life can hold unexpected secrets.

The painting as a whole can be seen as a metaphor for human relationships: a fragile balance between courage and fear, openness and self-protection. Every element—from the floral motifs to the butterflies—contributes to this subtle exploration of interaction and vulnerability, portraying a world where one learns to reveal oneself while respecting the boundaries and fears of others.
