Thought :
Guard your heart more than anything else. It is like a garden that you must tend. It will bloom beautifully provided that you know how to remove the weeds in time, so that they do not stifle your freedom. It is a constant work. Take care of it.
The painting "Guard your heart" illustrates loss, pain, but also the resilience of the soul in the face of trials. Whether it's mourning, a broken love, or an inner crisis, the heart suffers, but it is reborn, like a garden that is nurtured to bloom again. This universal message about the fragility and strength of the heart is beautifully captured in this work.
The scene takes place in a rectangular frame with rounded corners, its thick border painted in vibrant red, decorated with yellow triangles and black dots that evoke both life force and tormented emotions. This frame acts like a mirror, offering a window into the soul of the young woman seated at its center.
The composition evokes a dreamlike space where plants with organic forms blend with the symbolism of the human body. Blue and green seaweeds seem to rise and undulate, swept by an invisible tide. These plants, with their soft, flowing texture, contrast with other more marked vegetation, such as black leaves and translucent red structures reminiscent of the veins of a circulatory system, pulsing with life and pain. This network evokes the connection between the body and the heart, between the visible and the invisible.
The young woman sits at the center, surrounded by this vegetation, in a posture that reflects both suffering and inner struggle. Her closed eyes and tense face betray a silent battle. Her hands, positioned before her chest, seem to both protect and restrain, as though trying to soothe a pain she cannot ignore. From her chest, a red thread, resembling an artery, stretches towards a floating heart, suspended in the midst of the vegetation. This heart, fragile and vibrant, symbolizes both what she has lost and what she must protect.
The young woman's red hair cascades over her shoulders, its glow warming the scene despite the tension it exudes. Small leafy branches adorned with white fruits decorate her ears, adding a natural softness and evoking a connection to the earth and its cycles of life. A sun tattoo on her forehead and a small black heart under her eye reinforce the symbolic aspect of her representation, suggesting a blend of light and shadow, strength and vulnerability.
Her attire, a long purple dress adorned with subtle details, contributes to the elegance and depth of the painting. The top of the dress is embroidered with dark purple fern motifs, symbolizing memory and rebirth, while a sun symbol similar to the one on her forehead is embroidered on her shoulder, reminding of the persistence of life force. A light blue fabric belt, decorated with small delicate leaves, cinches her waist, suggesting the fragile balance between pain and serenity.
The painting as a whole invites intimate reflection: the heart, though exposed to trials, possesses an intrinsic strength. Like a garden, it requires attention and care to flourish, even after life's storms.
