A world in balance, painting of the celestial dance of the ermine
The painting A World in Balance is a timeless and fantastical work, depicting a universe in search of harmony and serenity.
The background, a deep black with shades of gray-blue, evokes the vastness of the cosmos. It is dotted with small white stars, giving the entire piece a sense of infinity. Yet, this setting is neither empty nor oppressive; it serves as a frame for a vibrant world, alive with color and energy, contrasting with the dark depth of space.
This universe is built on a subtle balance, particularly noticeable in the arrangement of planets that seem to interact in perfect symmetry. Some form harmonious pairs, while others illustrate controlled asymmetry. At the top and bottom left, a deep blue-violet planet is intriguing with its unique appearance: it is marked by a series of small white and red satellites spiraling towards its center, suggesting a perpetual movement. Similarly, four small golden planets scattered across the composition bring a solar warmth to the piece. In the upper third, two other planets, a lighter shade of violet, are positioned side by side. They are surrounded by rings of white satellites and delicate white ripples, like waves tracing a soft and calming rhythm. One is larger than the other, reminding us that balance does not necessarily mean perfect symmetry, but rather a fluid and organic complementarity.
At the center of the composition, a prominent planet captures the eye. Its milky gray surface, dotted with dark craters, immediately evokes the Moon, a symbol of mystery and transformation. It seems to be the anchor point of this suspended universe, a pivot around which everything is organized.
In the lower part of the painting, a feminine figure emerges, depicted in profile. She could be a deity, the creator and guardian of this strange and fascinating ecosystem. Her face is a striking, porcelain-like white, with delicately blushed cheeks. Her almond-shaped eyes, slightly lifted toward the viewer, give her an expression that is both impassive and enigmatic. A small black heart tattooed beneath her eye intensifies her gaze, while a solar symbol on her forehead hints at a connection to cosmic energy or the cycle of time. Her medium-length black hair is adorned with vegetation that seems to merge with her, as if she embodies the essence of nature itself.
Surrounding her is a dense, fantastical flora. In the lower section of the painting, large dark pink flowers bloom among thick green leaves. Beside them, tall plants with white stems bear small, glowing buds. These same plants appear to sprout under the young woman's ear, braiding an organic link between her and her environment. Higher up, above her head, black leaves dotted with yellow spots escape from her dark hair, as if they are an integral part of her being.
Another fascinating element runs through the composition: from her shoulder, two white ermine leap, forming a delicate S-shaped movement, their bodies linked by their tails in an aerial dance. Their immaculate fur is adorned with blue floral patterns, reminiscent of the delicate beauty of Chinese porcelain. This animal symbolizes purity, intelligence, and agility. Here, the intertwined ermine represent duality and balance, evoking the complementarity of opposing forces, united in a fluid and harmonious dynamic.
This painting, rich in mystery and poetry, immerses us in a world suspended between dream and reality, where each element, whether celestial or earthly, finds its place in a fragile but unshakable balance.
